Opera comes to the Coast

Mar Ezcurra, Councillor for Culture, has presented the Opera tour that will take place in Orihuela Costa during the months of July and August. These are broadcasts of the best operas of the Teatro Real, as well as live concerts – and all free of charge.
The place chosen for these performances, organised by the Department of Culture, is the esplanade at Playa Flamenca, where projections of operas will be held on Wednesdays and live concerts on Sundays.
On Wednesday 22nd July the audience will be able to enjoy the famous Tosca, by Giacomo Puccini; La Bohéme, also by Puccini, will be screened on Wednesday, 29th July; on Wednesday 5th August we will be able to see La Traviata, by Giuseppe Verdi. On 12th August it will be the turn of the well-known opera Madama Butterfly and the broadcasts of the Royal Theatre performances will end on Wednesday 19th August with the opera Aida.
As for the live opera concerts, on Sunday 26th July and 9th August a performance by the Ginés Pérez de la Parra Choir will take place and on Sunday 2nd August and 16th August the Trio Moon (piano, horn and soprano) will entertain the crowds; all performances will begin at 8:30pm.
“We have prepared this Opera tour on the Orihuela Costa, so that all the residents of the coast and those who visit us during these summer weeks can enjoy the best music in the open air and in an enviable setting,”explained Mar Ezcurra, who pointed out that all activities are free until capacity is reached and that all sanitary protection measures will be carried out.
“It is one of the first activities organised by the Culture Department this summer on the Orihuela Costa but we are already working on several more performances that we will announce in the coming days,” she added.
