Orihuela tours for September

The Department of Tourism has designed a program of routes and tours for the month
of September in which the Nuestra Señora de Monserrate will have a predominant
role. On September 8TH, the festival of the Virgin of Monserrate, patron saint of
Orihuela, will take place and the City Council and the Department of Tourism wanted
to focus on the patron saint, which is why they have scheduled two routes with the
"Mother of Orihuela" at the centre.
The September routes will start on Saturday 9th with the "Virgen de Monserrate"
route. The starting point will be from the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Monserrate at 10
am. The second departure will take place on Saturday 16th at 10am from the
Hermitage of Monserrate on Miguel Hernández street.
Another important route of this program will be that of "Miguel Hernández – Life and
work." The figure of the famous Oriolano poet is the main tourist attraction of the city
and the Department of Tourism wanted to honour him again with a route on 27 th
September (World Tourism Day). The tour will depart from the Miguel Hernández
House Museum at 10am.
The program will be completed with the routes "Curiosities of the Rabaloche
Neighbourhood" on September 10th at 10am departing from the Plaza de Monserrate
and the theatrical route 'Walking through the Monserrate Neighbourhood' conducted
the 'Teatro Expression' group on 13 th September at 8:30pm from the Sanctuary of Our
Lady of Monserrate.
The second week of this program will see a walk along the routes of "Dulces Pasos"
(Convents), on 17 th September at 10am from Plaza del Carmen. This is the day that the
patron saint festivities end and that the Virgin returns to her Sanctuary, the Dulces
Pasos route will mark the occasion with participants tasting the traditional convent
sweets.
The tourist routes arrive in Orihuela Costa with a tour to "Cala Mosca from Punta
Prima" on the 23 rd September at 10am starting at Punta Prima beach parking lot.
Finally, the program for this month of September will close with the "Cultural Walk" on
30 th September at 10am departing from the Arco de Santo Domingo.
