Torrevieja announces two year plan for beach management

Torrevieja town hall this week announced a multi-year contract for 2021 and 2022, with a total investment of over €1.8m. The contract for the Management and Control of Access to the Beaches of Torrevieja was approved and will look after sanitary measures that came about due to the COVID-19 situation. The initiative was announced by councillor Federico Alarcón who revealed that the object of the contract is the provision of teams of workers to carry out control and surveillance of accesses and exits to the beaches of Torrevieja, as well as the control on the actual beach itself in order that the safety distance is respected at all times.
The scheme includes three working teams: a team of personnel for the control and surveillance of beaches, a team for the cleaning of public toilets at beaches and promenades as well as the footbaths located on all Torrevieja beaches. Also included is a team which, prior to the opening of the beaches, and after closure, will assemble and disassemble the equipment which marks out the individual ‘plots’ for beachgoers.
Councillor Alarcón has announced that the service will be divided into three periods:
1. Low season 1 of Easter, from March 27 to April 5 (10 days).
2. Low season 2, from June 15 to 30 and from September 1 to 15 (30 days).
3. High season, from July 1 to August 31 (62 days).
The beach control hours will from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the more popular beaches and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on those considered less busy.
