Arrest for exploiting illegal immigrant in Crevillent

National Police Officers in Alicante have arrested a 30-year-old person of Mexican nationality accused of an alleged crime against the rights of workers. He man was the sole administrator of a company based in Crevillent which employed foreign citizens in an irregular situation, without work contracts and who were subjected to long working hours of 12-hour shifts.
The investigation has been carried out by officers of Group III of the UCRIF (Unit Against Immigration Networks and Documentary Falsehoods) of the Alicante Provincial Police Station, after learning that an industrial company was employing people in an irregular situation and without a contract.
Faced with this situation, the investigators carried out various discreet and intermittent surveillance operations, in which they were able to verify that the company had three warehouses where 45 or 50 people worked in two shifts.
Once they had the necessary information, the officers established a special operation in which they had the support of the Alicante Labour Inspectorate within the framework of the Agreement signed between the Ministry of Employment of Social Security and the Ministry of the Interior in the fight against irregular employment and Social Security fraud. The Assigned Unit of the National Police to the Valencian Community also participated in the operation.
The officers conducted an inspection of the workplace where they located a total of 24 workers of different nationalities spread over the three company warehouses. Of these, only two were registered with Social Security and the rest said they did not have a work contract and worked 12-hour days without any breaks.
In addition, seven of the workers were irregularly in Spain, which means they were not legal entities. Continuing with the investigation, the police officers discovered that of the total number of workers in the company, which was almost 50, only 6 were registered and with an employment contract.
Due to these facts, the Labour Inspectors initiated the corresponding sanctioning labour proceedings and the officers of the Immigration Brigade proceeded to arrest the sole administrator of the company as the alleged perpetrator of a Crime Against the Rights of the Workers, instructing police proceedings, the details of which were in turn sent to the Courts of Elche.
