The Orihuela Councillor for the Environment, Dámaso Aparicio, has announced the installation of two new double charging points for electric vehicles that will be located in Orihuela.
The new stations have been subsidised by the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE) as part of the “Energy saving and efficiency in transport” program. The funding equates to a grant of 16,602.40 euros, which represents 80 percent of the cost. The remainder of the balance will be covered by municipal contribution, since the works amount to a total of 20,753.00 euros.
Councillor Aparicio explained that “one of the electric charging points will be installed in El Palmeral, more specifically in the Casa de los Verdú, and the other will be located near the Orihuela City Council car park.”
The installation of equipment, cabling, auxiliary systems, civil works and engineering will soon begin to allow the installation of the two new electrical systems with double plugs that will join those already installed throughout the municipality.
“Orihuela is the city in the province with the most recharging point, so we want to continue promoting sustainability and environmentally friendly transport, which implies a reduction in Co2 emissions”, explained the Councillor, who stressed the need to “make new vehicle recharging points available on public roads so that people can use them free of charge”.
