Beach umbrellas for all in Torrevieja

Torrevieja’s popular central beach, Playa del Cura, was chosen to kick off a special summer campaign by the business and tourism industry where members of the public were gifted free beach parasols. The umbrellas, eyecatching in white with the campaign slogans in blue, were placed on the beach on Friday morning by beach workers with one umbrella per ‘pitch’ on the socially distanced beach. Those arriving to use the beach on Friday were surprised that the umbrellas were already in place for them to enjoy, and even more surprised when they were invited to take the umbrellas home with them at the end of their stay. The campaign is a joint initiative between APYMECO (the small and medium business association) and the town hall and aims to promote the message that Torrevieja is open for business.
The Councillor for Commerce of Torrevieja, Rosario Martínez, together with the coordinator of the Department of Commerce, José Rubio, and the President of APYMECO, Jorge Almarcha, were at the beach on Friday morning and all were very hands on in helping set up the umbrellas.
