The road safety awareness Facebook page, N332, delivered a large consignment of school supplies for use by Ukrainian children who have been displaced to Spain to escape the war in their home country. N332 made an appeal for school materials among its supporters and immediately had a response from Mike Haynes of Coys Rent a Car in Torreiveja as well as Pablo Zhou from HXC Brico in Crevillente. Thanks to the support of these business owners and members of the public, the hundreds of students who will begin classes at Salvador Ruso school on Saturday mornings (see main story on page 4) will have the basic materials needed for classes.
Support also came from Danny’s grill bar in Pinar de Campoverde, where Jade Wills had all her hair cut off, which raised 500 euro in sponsorship. This money was also spent on school supplies for the children. Thanks also go to Werner Wilmes, who donated two laptops for the school’s teachers to use.
Due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, there are many refugees who have been forced to flee to other countries, including Spain. Torrevieja is specifically favoured by many Ukrainian families as there is already a well established Ukrainian community here. ,
A few weeks ago, the director of the school for Ukrainian children requested help to solve the great demand for new places due to the arrival of refugees with school-age children. The N332 association, represented by Francisco Javier Morales, immediately took this request on boad and several school material collection points were quickly set up in different towns in the area.
Thanks to the collective effort, the donation of a massive amount of school material was achieved, in addition to the laptops that were delivered to the director Natalia Zhezhnyauska. Natalia Zhezhnyauska thanked everyone for all the help given, and gave thought to all those children who are still in the Ukraine and unfortunately cannot continue their studies.
