Tourist attractions to close early

The well-know Benidorm theme parks of Aqualandia and Mundomar are predicting that the lack of tourists will force them to close early this year, ending the season on 23rd August. The parks had already been forced to open late on 3rd July and with limited capacity due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Both parks are owned by the same owner, the Santa Maria Group, and a spokesman said that the current visitor number the the predicted footfall forecast are forcing them to go ahead with the plan to shut down before the end of August.
The spokesman said: “The predictions for the rest of the month are not good for people coming to the parks due to lower tourism caused by the coronavirus.”
The previously expected boost to local tourism and to Benidorm visitors in particular by British holiday makers was shattered by the UK government’s introduction of a 14-day quarantine period for all travellers returning from Spain.
